NYC: #TBT 4th of July Rockaways Style
Though they now reside in the of glamorous banks of New Jersey, Nick and AJ first docked their boat in Queens -- The Rockaways to be specific. A few years ago we took the A train the farthest I'd ever taken it (to Beach 60th St) to celebrate their new aquatic purchase and our nation's independence. Though it was a pretty long trip, it was worth it.
The second we stepped on the dock I felt relaxed. Even though you could see the city in the distance and planes from JFK directly overhead, it felt a world away from the absurdity of New York on the 4th of July.
Nope.
Absolutely nope.
Instead of sweating on a stranger and dehydrating while standing for hours on end, we walked on the beach, kayaked, grilled, and even went fishing! It was a perfect day to celebrate 'Merica with friends.
Nick and AJ will be hosting again this year in NJ, but I'll be in Texas getting my Kaboom Town on.
