The Playlist: NYC Half Training

Once upon a time in the not-too-distant past, I hated running. That's actually kind of an understatement. I loathed it with the fire of a thousand suns. I could kickbox, spin, lift, or salute the sun for three hours straight, but I'd give running a go and in three minutes, I was sure my heart was exploding.

Then I started working out with a personal trainer whose arms are so cut, I swore I'd do whatever she told me. And she told me to run.

Eventually I found my stride and ran a 10K with Jen and a few other friends in NYC. Then Jen convinced me to run the Navy-Air Force Half Marathon with her last September in D.C. It was so much fun I felt like this:

Let's be real though, afterward I was walking like a 90-year-old with arthritis. But it WAS super fun, and now I'm training for the New York City Half which happens in just over a month. I'm even part of this rad Under Armour challenge called You vs. the Year, and I'm hoping to run 1,000 km in 2016. If you're into running even a teeny tiny bit, you should join the Facebook group here. It's crazy motivating.

If you had asked me a year ago if I would ever say something like what I am about to say, I'd laugh in your face. But I'm PISSED because it's snowing and sleeting here and I can't go on the training run I had planned for my day off work.

If you too are stuck inside, grumbling about the shit-tay weather outside, I have a treat for you in the form of my training playlist! Get pumped on your forced staycation, or take it with you if you need a workout playlist when you travel. It is the actual shit, if I do say so myself.

And in the meantime, let's all collectively cross our fingers for an early spring.
