Florida: #TBT The Magic Kingdom
Up next in my #TBT making-amends-for-shitting-all-over-Florida series on Disney World is the Magic Kingdom! Of the four main parks, nothing is more quintessentially Disney than the Magic Kingdom. It's all about fairy tales and Disney characters -- how can you not love it?
It's broken up into Main Street U.S.A, which is designed to look like turn-of-the-century small town America; Adventureland, which looks like jungles of the South Pacific; Frontierland, which makes you feel like you're in an old Western; Liberty Square, which Wikipedia tells me is supposed to be colonial America but looks to me like old school New Orleans; Fantasyland, which is dedicated to old school Disney stories like Peter Pan; and Tomorrowland, which is the future...or at least how people imagined the future would be in the 1950s.
SO many good rides in this park. My all-time favorite is the Haunted Mansion, which my parents love to remind me I was too scared to go on when we visited Disney World the first time and I was a little kid. Also of course LOVE Pirates of the Caribbean and It's a Small World (despite the earworm). And it's not without some really solid thrill rides -- the original indoor rollercoaster, Space Mountain; Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, another awesome rollercoaster; and Splash Mountain, the ultimate log flume ride.
Side note: please excuse the fact that many of these pictures are filtered to death. It was 2012, and I had just gotten my first iPhone, so I went a little HAM with the Instagram.
Check it out!
