Canada: Montréal Itinerary

In just a little over a month, Staci and I will be heading up north for our annual trip abroad...only this time, it'll be much closer to home! Though we live relatively close, neither of us had ever been to the North American French settlement. It seemed like a no brainer to check it out, and now that I've done a little bit of research, I'm that much more excited. Besides indulging in a famous Montréal bagel, strolling the cobblestones of Old Montréal, and checking out some local jazz, we have a few specifics in mind.

Here's some of whats on tap (quite literally in some cases) for our trip!

Village au Pied du Courant

This multi-use space reminds me of something I'd see in Brooklyn. It's part artisan market, part beer garden, part live music venue, and part yoga studio. Basically, it's right up our alley. Plus, it's beautiful.

Le Quartier des Spectacles

Remember that awesome Baltimore Light City festival Staci wrote about earlier this year? Well Montreal has one YEAR ROUND in this neighborhood! I literally cannot wait to check out this amazing arts district.

Craft Beer Crawl

Apparently Montreal is a craft beer haven. I suspect we might do a little pub crawl and check out whats on tap!

Montreal’s Metropolitan Orchestra Concert in the Park

Much like NYC, the Montreal Orchestra hosts free outdoor concerts in the summer. Apparently the artistic director and principal conductor, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, is heading to the NYC Orchestra in 2020, so I guess if I don't see him now, I can check him out here in a few years!

Explore the Mile-Ex

Apparently, this neighborhood next to Little Italy is the next big thing. The descriptions remind me a bit of the LX Factory in Lisbon. There are a bunch of places in a small, newly gentrified, artistic area -- from restaurants to galleries to shops.

Basilique Notre-Dame

There's nothing us two Jewish girls love better than visiting foreign churches (really though). So, of course, we'll be checking out the Notre-Dame. If nothing else, we'll see how it stacks up to the one in Paris.

Rue St. Denis

We don't usually do a ton of shopping on our trips, but we can't not stroll down Rue St. Denis and check out the shops and architecture along the way!

Musée des Beaux-Arts de Montréal

As always, we're super pumped to check out what this city as to offer in terms of art and museums. With works from Rembrandt, Picasso, and Monet, I can't wait!

Mont Royal Park

A quick hike in the park offers spectacular panoramic views of the city. It's designed by the same fellows who built Central Park here in NYC, so you know it's gonna be gorg.

Wine Country Tour

Did you know that Montréal has its own wine country? We certainly didn't! I can't wait to check out the vineyards and enjoy some vino in the Canadian countryside!

Alright guys, what are we missing?
