NYC: The Catskills, Camp, and a Ceremony

NYC

This past weekend Mike and I headed upstate to celebrate the wedding of one of his good friends from college. After taking a long, but scenic train ride to Poughkeepsie, we took a long, but scenic drive through the Catskills to the Full Moon Resort. The grounds of the bed and breakfast-meets-summer camp were beautiful. The resort is situated in the mountains, surrounded by epic hiking trails and featured a pool, pond, and requisite barn.

The weekend was filled with dancing, swimming, and hiking (and of course love and laughter and all that jazz). It was the perfect getaway with the exception of the terrible 100-degree weather. The wedding itself was a mashup of traditional Indian and Jewish cultures. The first night featured an Indian engagement ceremony, a sangreet, and an Indian-inspired American BBQ (think curries and desserts straight from India!). The second day's events included a ceremony under a chuppah and the horah (complete with a chair lift!) followed by a Bollywood-inspired dance afterparty. Basically, it was the most fun and colorful wedding ever, heat be damned.
