Canada: The Land of Ice Wine
As with many of our past trips, Staci and I booked a tour to learn all about the alcohol produced in the region. #Priorities
This time around, we traveled 45 minutes outside of Montreal with the loveliest little tour guide to two small vineyards. If you're thinking that two vineyards was not enough wine, you'd be wrong.
The weather was picture-perfect, and the wines were delicious (though...strangely flavorful in a way that French and California wines are not). We learned a ton (seriously, thanks to our sommelier tour guide at the first vineyard) about wine pairings and how they make wine in negative-40-degree weather.
The only downside were the usual "worst-people-to-go-on-a-tour-with." Seriously, these two "ladies" were the worst. No, they didn't delay the group or ask know-it-all questions, but they did act obnoxiously and cut in front of me in line -- first at a cash register and then for a bathroom. And if you know anything about me, you know that my bladder waits for no one. One of them also inadvertently (maybe) flashed the entire group. That was before we even had our first tasting. Thankfully for them, I had just enough wine to mellow out before going HAM.
As usual, I thought I'd have enough spare room in my suitcase to haul back a bottle or two, but my suitcase begged to differ and I had to leave my bottle of wine back a our Airbnb. Now that I'm back at work, I'm really wishing I had just thrown out some clothes instead.
At least I can pretend I'm still there with these pictures (totally the same thing)!
