Gift Guide: #GivingTuesday
We here at Hashtag Jetlag don't just love material things (though we do love them, trust me), we also love to give back! Between Staci's volunteering at Turnaround, my work with WomanKind, and our endless donations to Planned Parenthood in Mike Pence's name, we know how important it is to be involved in our communities and give back to those who need it most.
If you're looking for a few travel-related ways to give back this #GivingTuesday (or any day really!), here are a few suggestions:
Airline Ambassadors
Airline Ambassadors International (AAI) helps orphans and vulnerable children worldwide by leveraging connections with the airline industry toward humanitarian service.
Their volunteers escort children for life-changing medical care, hand deliver humanitarian aid to children in orphanages, clinics and remote communities, and advocate and educate others about child protection and human trafficking awareness.
You can donate or sponsor a child.
Clean The World
Clean the World's mission is to save lives around the world through distributing recycled soap and hygiene products from more than 5,000 hotel and resort partners to children and families in countries with high death rates due to acute respiratory infections like pneumonia and diarrheal diseases like cholera. Since 2009, Clean the World has distributed more than 41 million bars of soap in 118 countries. You can help in multiple ways including donating, hosting a kit-building party, or helping a hotel recycling program.
Charleston Food & Wine Festival
I know what you're thinking, but this one is actually a great charity! They've donated more than $400,000 to local charities since it began. The 2017 festival donated more than 3,000 lb of food to One80 Place and $10,000 to Growing New Farmers.
Next year's festival takes place Feb. 28-March 4.
Natural Resources Defense Council
I worked for these guys last year, and I can't say enough good things about the organization and the people working for it.
As we all know, there will be no world to travel around if global warming and the destruction of our environment continues at its current pace. If you donate today, they will completely match your gift. What's stopping you?
American Immigration Council
We were all once travelers to this land we now call home, though *some* seem to keep forgetting that.
Help protect those who make our nation truly great! You can donate and get involved in serval ways.
Where will you be giving today?
