Florida: Crescent Beach

In addition to taking me tubing this past weekend, my lovely boyfriend Scott took one for the team and took me to the beach. He hates the beach -- primarily because there is no shade and he feels like you get sand stuck in your things forever. As much as I love the beach, I can't argue with the sand argument. So thanks for sucking it up babe.

We went to Crescent Beach, which is about 90 minutes outside of Gainesville, and we took his 2-year-old mastiff Penelope with us. It was Penny's first time at the beach, and while confused by the waves (which she kept trying to bite), she seemed to enjoy digging in the sand, doggy-paddling through the water, and playing frisbee.

Unfortunately, she probably did not enjoy the unintentional colonic that followed swallowing too much saltwater and sand.

But despite poor Penny's watery diarrhea and the baseline sunburns we both sustained, our day at the beach was a lot of fun. Crescent Beach was super chill, with clean, powdery sand. I liked watching Penny and the other dogs give themselves sand beards and mustaches, the kite boarders doing tricks along the waves, and people who don't know how to drive their cars onto the beach get stuck in the sand. Unlike here, where the water will probably be icy until mid-July, the water in Florida is already warm, and the rolling waves were pretty calm.

So I'm continuing this week with some photos from our day at Crescent Beach! B-)
