All Over: Traveling with Pets Part 1
As you must know by now, Staci and I are big fans of furry friends, specifically the whiskered, feline variety.
It should come as no surprise that leaving adopted members of our family behind when we travel is tough. We constantly worry about how they're doing (they're fine) and if they miss us (they probably don't).
This summer, I'll be taking my annual Rehoboth trip and have considered taking our newest furry friend along for the trip.
The last time our kitten was in a car, he was 2 lb, 2 months old, and crying A LOT. I'm hoping this time will be different.
Besides the obvious issues of having a litter box handy, having enough food and water, and making sure your pet is microchipped, the most important thing is the carrier! Some might disagree about putting your pet in a carrier for the whole trip, but having a lose animal in the car who can distract you from driving and potentially get under the brake pad is a huge problem. So carrier it is!

AmazonBasics Soft-Sided Pet Travel Carrier
If you're in a need of a down and dirty basic carrier, this is perfect. The duffle bag design, ventilated sides and soft bottom are perfect for shorter trips.
Petsfit Expandable Travel Carrier
As a New Yorker accustomed to tiny spaces, I love any sort of collapsable item. This soft-sided carrier is a duffle bag with a ton of ventilation and extra space for your tiny friend.
OxGord Airline-Approved Pet Carriers with Fleece Bed For Dog & Cat
In addition to similarly good ventilation and handy straps, this one offers pockets for treats and medications. It's also within the carryon regulations for most airlines (bonus!)
Catit Design Cabrio Multi-Functional Carrier System
This sturdy (see: heavy) carrier has the food and water dish integrated into the door. The top and sides open up for easy access/ closure.
Pet Gear I-GO2 Plus Traveler Rolling Backpack Carrier for Small Cats and Dogs
This carrier does it all! It's part backpack, part rolling bag, part car seat. There's not a ton of room for larger pets, but its good for small-medium sizes.
