NYC: June Events
There are few things better than the start of summer in NYC. People are happier, the weather is warmer (but not too warm so that everyone smells like feet), and there are a million fun things to do all around town. Check out some of my recs for June!
Pride
With our new Cheeto-in-Chief's complete lack of acknowledgment of pride month, its more important than ever to show your support for the LGBTQ community. With so many events going on during the month of June, there's really no excuse not to show up.
Where: Various
When: Throughout June, parade is June 25
WhiskeyX
Who doesn't love a good whiskey tasting (lookin' at you, Staci)? This event, hosted by the Black Keys' Dan Auerbach is sure to be fun. There's live music, food trucks, haircuts (yeah...), a cigar lounge, and of course, a shit ton of whiskey.
Where: Brooklyn Cruise Terminal, Red Hook
When: June 8
Donutfest
The only problem with this one is that Leslie Epstein isn't in town to experience it. With a donut showdown featuring tastings from Underwest Donuts, Gossip Coffee, Montclair Bread Co., Glaze Donuts, Forbidden Donuts, and iced latte palette cleansers, it's basically my ideal Saturday morning.
Where: Marquee
When: June 17
Shakespeare in the Park
One day I swear I'm going to score tickets to one of these shows. If you're not into playing the lottery, you can always fork over $500 to reserve a seat.
Where: Central Park
When: May 23 - Aug. 13
Summerstage
Even if you can't make your way into one of the many free shows this summer, you can always sit outside the bandshell and take in the tunes or comedy. This year's lineup includes performances by Ginuwine, Sasheer Zamata, and BalletX; there's something for everyone.
Where: Central Park
When: June - Sept. 22
Sunset Sail Happy Hour
Is there anything better than drinking on open water? Probably. But it's still a treat, amirite? Take advantage of the fact that we live on an island and start your weekend by sailing on the Hudson with a drink in hand.
When: Thursdays + Fridays, May thru August
Where: Departs from Battery Slip 2
Anything I missed?
