The Packing List: Staci's Summer Beauty Essentials

Jen hit you up earlier this year with a sweet list of beauty products to keep you fresh all summer long. Like Jen, I am a big Birchbox whore. For $10 a month, I get enough sample beauty products that I barely buy anything anymore (especially considering that the longer I work from home, the lazier I become about my appearance). When I do fall in love with a sample, I know what to buy. And if I can maintain my patience the way Jen does, I'll have a ton of TSA-approved sample-sized products to take with me when I travel (though I usually can't wait to test everything immediately).

But as you are probably not surprised to hear, everyone is different and has different beauty needs. UNLIKE Jen, I wasn't blessed with silky hair that can air dry, be slept on, and still be manageable in the morning. Oh no. I have a Jewfro like no other and the dry shampoo and sea salt spray that give Jen the texture she craves are literally the last thing this mane needs.

So here's another list of what I've been using this summer.

1. GLAMGLOW Thirsty Mud Hydrating Treatment, Amazon $43.89
I know sheet masks are all the rage right now, But I just got a sample of this mask in my Birchbox this month, and I love love love the way it smells and how good my skin feels afterward. I don't have particularly dry skin, but if I'm out in the sun running or laying at the beach, I will definitely need some hydration afterward. Bonus: They have a four-pack travel case.

2. Too Faced Tinted Beauty Balm, Amazon, Prices Vary
OK, pro tip, Too Faced doesn't make this BB cream anymore, but you can still get it on Amazon, SO GET TO IT. I guess BB crams aren't as popular as they once were, but I love this stuff. I am not big on foundation, so I prefer tinted moisturizer like this one, that isn't full-coverage. The SPF is legit too; my face has not burned once this summer.

3. the Balm Mary-Lou Manizer, Amazon $22.65
Have you ever gotten your eyelids sunburnt? No? Well I HAVE. And it is not an experience I care to repeat. So I wear eyeshadow to the beach. Although this is technically a highlighter, I use it as an eyeshadow because it is a nude similar to my skin tone but still adds a little bit of sheen to brighten my eyes.

4. Macadama Professional Nourishing Moisture Oil Treatment, Amazon $39.95
As previously mentioned, I'm not looking for texture or volume in my hair, especially when it's humid outside. But promises of silky smooth locks? Sure. So I like this hair oil because I can run it through my hair and let it air dry, and then it smells soooooo good, and I really just love a beauty product that smells good.

5. Living Proof Perfect Hair Day 5-in-1 Styling Treatment, Amazon, Prices Vary
I added this to my summer essentials list, but truth be told, I use it all year round before I do anything in the way of styling my hair. It combats frizz better than any product I've tried. It even displaced Aveda's long-running hold atop my hair products ranking.

6. EO Botanical Body Oil, French Lavender, Amazon $9.59
I never particularly loved the smell of lavender until recently, when my yoga studio began giving each of us a refrigerated towel moistened with lavender essential oil at the end of class. It really felt like there was nothing as luxurious as draping my face with a cold, lavender towel. And since doge knows we all need SOMETHING to relax these days, I recently bought some lavender essential oil to diffuse as I go to sleep every night. This particular oil can be used for moisturizing or massage. Ahhh.

7. Sun Bum Moisturizing Sunscreen Lotion, Amazon $14.13
I've preached the Sun Bum praises on this blog before. It smells delightfully coconutty, it's easy to spread, and I don't get blotchy sunburns when I use it. Plus I like the monkey.

8. Blistex Medicated Lip Balm with SPF 15, Pack of 6, Amazon $9.36
Yeah, it's true, I don't use anything fancy to protect my lips. But like eyelids, once you've been burned, you'll never let it happen again. So I don't leave the house without swiping this tried and true balm on my lips both for protection and moisturization. And I mean, it's cheap as dirt, so win win.

What's in your bag this summer?
