All Over: Exploring by Bike
As you may remember, I recently acquired a bike. I can't believe I've spent 10 years in New York without one -- it's so great. The last few years I've used Citibike to get around for commuting and errands, but since there's a 45-minute time limit on the bikes, I could never really use it for fun rides. Plus, they're heavy AF and only have three gears, so they're not really great for anything but smooth, flat pavement.
My new bike has given me an appreciation for the city (or at least parts of Brooklyn) that I never had before. Now I can explore some less accessible portions of the borough like Red Hook, the Columbia Waterfront District, and Greenpoint. Plus now I can do a full loop of Prospect Park without worrying about redocking the bike.
Last weekend, I took the bike out for 10-mile ride through Gowanus, Carroll Gardens, and Red Hook to Brooklyn Bridge Park. It was a beautiful morning along the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway filled with lots of photo ops and fun street art.
Check out my ride below!

P.S. If you're thinking about getting a bike in the city -- DO IT! Just wear a helmet :)
