The Packing List: Long Haul Must-Haves

Anything over a four-hour plane ride to me is a long haul. Yes, that includes California. The air is dry, the temps are freezing, and the space is limited. Add that to an overnight flight and you've got yourself a hot mess express.

To combat the boredom, dry skin, gross smells, and disgusting tray tables, I carry on a bag full of products. Take a peek inside what my bag will look like next week when we depart for Scandinavia!

CLEANLINESS

By now we all know that airplanes are just metal incubators for the worst kinds of people and germs. I literally won't step foot on an aircraft without hand sanitizer and antibacterial wipes for everything -- the seat, the window, the tray...EVERYTHING. I also want to be smelling minty fresh upon arrival and have crystal clear skin!

BEAUTY

Look, I'm vain, get over it. I want to come off the plane feeling refreshed and looking like a million bucks (even though I'm definitely sitting in steerage). Besides taking off my makeup upon boarding, I also use a few things before de-planing. The 30 minutes when you can't use electronics but all of the lights are on because they're trying to wake everyone up are perfect for a quick face mask (rehydration!), cooling gels (eye bags!), lipstick (chic!), and perfume because ain't nobody got time for a shower on a plane.

PRACTICALS

Let's face it -- flying is boring AF. It's great if you can catch some ZZZs (which I will definitely be trying to do), but my track record of sleeping on planes is spotty at best. In comes the entertainment. Since I'm pretty reliant these days on my Bluetooth headphones, I forgot that to watch movies on planes you actually have to plug them in. I know, right? Crazy. So I'm packing a pair of junkie earbuds as well as my Kindle for when the movie selection is less than awesome. I'm also packing a portable charger just in case I can't find that elusive charging outlet.

What are your must-haves for long flights? Am I missing anything criticial?
