The Playlist: A French New Yorker's Cocktail Hour?
Over the holidays, Scott and I got engaged. Yay!
Yes, yes. ::takes bow:: Thank you.
If you’ve gotten married or you know someone who’s gotten married, you might be clued into the fact that unless you’re living a life of leisure and have nothing else to do, planning a wedding is a giant pain in the ass. If I wasn’t a control freak, I’d be cool with just letting someone else plan it for me, but alas, I do in fact have a vision, and I am in fact keen on making it come to fruition.
Damn these Type A genes.
Part of my vision of course includes music. In fact, next to food, this is the most important piece of my vision. We have yet to hire a DJ (recommendations welcome!), but whoever we hire better buckle up because…I have some instructions.
Lucky for all of us, Spotify exists and I can provide my potentially unwanted guidance in the form of a playlist. Or multiple playlists, because this one is just for cocktail hour. Some songs of course might cross over into party playlist territory, but of course, dance-ability is a greater concern during the party than it is during cocktail hour.
For the cocktail hour tunes, my inspiration is from jazz (something Scott and I both enjoy…and Jen and I strive to see live during our travels), France (where we plan to honeymoon), and New York in the 40s, 50s, and 60s. Think “Mrs. Maisel” meets a French cafe meets vintage love songs.
Obviously, I am very into the vibes of this playlist, and I hope they transport you to Paris, New York, or my future wedding’s cocktail hour!
