Lisbon: Learning Portuguese with Jen!

Before I poke fun at Jen trying to speak Portuguese, it is important to note that I too suck at learning languages. I took Spanish for however many years, a semester of Italian, and dabbled in Hebrew, but practically all I have to offer you is a solid list of ways to say "penis" in Yiddish.

That said, I'm fairly good at figuring out alphabets and what certain combinations of letters should sound like. Jen, however, is not. At least when it comes to Portuguese. Fair, Portuguese kind of sounds like Spanish, only with your mouth full of tapas. Or, in the case of when I try to speak it, it sounds like Sean Connery speaking Spanish. Needless to say, neither of us mastered Portuguese in our time in Lisbon.

He's speaking Portuguese, FYI, "just in cases" you haven't seen my favorite anti-feminist Christmas movie ever.

That said, having spent a fair amount of time with Brazilian soccer players, and having a penchant for caipirinhas, I had the alphabet down. Jen, however, had a strange mental block. Which gives us one of my favorite HTJL features -- Learning Languages! Enjoy Portuguese with Jen and please try to ignore what I sound like speaking English after one too many caipirinhas.
