Florida: Disney's Epcot
Let's get the awkwardness out of the way. It feels weird AF to be talking about travel and vacations when some serious shit went down last week. But we all could use a distraction, right? And since Staci and I are proud nasty women, we're here to lift some spirits and take you away (at least virtually) to some of our favorite places, starting with the one I just came home from, the most magical place on earth -- Disney World.
As most of you know, last week, I was in Disney with my family (yes, including on Election Day). The trip itself was great, and really there's no one else I'd rather have been with on November 9th than my family (and also Staci, obviously). While the end of the trip was well...not ideal, the rest of the vacation was a delicious and fun distraction.
Our hotel was right next to Epcot, so naturally when we landed, we walked right on over. Over the next few days we went back to the park for pre-dinner snacks (hello, Food & Wine Festival!), a delightful fireworks show, and a couple of dinners.
As Staci already covered, Epcot is a massive park filled with "countries," faux space travel, a giant aquarium, and my favorite ride, Soarin'. It's the park with the fewest children in it since it's mainly for eating, drinking, and learning. So naturally, it was one of my favorites (although I could have done without the massive frat groups in "Germany" for Oktoberfest). Epcot's also home to a few early-morning races, one of which my dad, brother, and I accidentally crashed (oops!). It may have been my favorite morning of the week. Nothing beats watching the sunrise over the geosphere and then (illicitly) crossing the finish line with your family.
