Baltimore: The 2016 Mobbies!

Sorry not sorry, I still am not feeling good about the election.

Right, you're right. That's an understatement. I'm still cycling between grief and rage.

And to the surprise of absolutely no one, social media isn't helping whatsoever. So Friday afternoon I decided I was going to go dark on Facebook for the weekend. I've contemplated a Facebreakation many times before, but promoting this here blog prohibits that. But for the weekend, I figured it might be nice for my sanity.

Then, to my pleasant surprise, the Hashtag Jetlag Twitter received a pleasant surprise Friday evening!

Awww, you guyssss!

Thanks for being a bright spot in a bleak week! So I didn't go dark because I figured I'd spend the weekend begging for votes, but then this jam-packed weekend went by in a flash.

For those of you who don't know, the Mobbies are the Baltimore Sun's annual awards for digital entertainment (that the Chicago Tribune Co. does not pay). We were nominated two years ago when we were just a baby blog, and we did OK -- we placed third in the Best New Blog category.

This year we are nominated in the Best Blog category. And I want to WIN. I mean, this competitiveness should surprise no one. Third place was cool two years ago, but this year, third place = Gary Johnson.

So if you feel like your vote didn't count in the 2016 U.S. Election, you have another chance to let your voice be heard. Of course, the stakes are comparatively meaningless, and if Jen and I win, unfortunately, we will not be leaders of the free world, but we WILL be happy. If you were happy with the outcome of the election...um...OK...I guess? But you should still vote for us anyway because duh, you're here, so you must like travel/food/laughing/us, and a vote for HTJL is a vote for escapism in the form of laughing at dumb shit.

So here's the deal: You can vote every day until it ends (I don't know when that is), so just keep doing it. Vote early and often! Click here or click on that guy (<----) to do so.

And I promise to try to remind you every day.

So...let's make blogging great again?
