The Playlist: Women and Allies Strikeout and Protest

Today's Women & Allies Strikeout and Protest marks the start of many large-scale women-led protests around the country. The event calls for women, POC, LGBTQ, immigrants, and other marginalized communities to take a day off work, withhold all spending, and join in solidarity to protest the normalization of sexual assault, racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia, unconstitutional behavior, cronyism, and hate promoted by Trump the Orange Pile of Flaming Diapers and his cohorts.

You can buy these pins and many other equally amazing ones here. All profits go to charity.

It's similar to annual protests held in Iceland (another reason to love that country) and the one recently held in France.

So today, along with my fellow feminists (yes, that includes men!) I am marching in Columbus Circle for the protection of women's rights and the rights of all vulnerable groups in this country. On my commute there (and the several trains I'll be taking down to D.C. for the Women's March on Washington next month) I'll be pumping myself up to fight the patriarchy with some revolutionary tunes. Here's what I'll be listening to on the way to reclaim our rights.

Unfortunately, some of my top choices aren't on Spotify, but here are a few I'll be playing on repeat before delving into my playlist (If Kendrick+Beyonce doesn't get you pumped, nothing will):

And here's the rest -- a mix of classic protest songs from the '60s and modern anthems. Thanks for some of the recs, mom!
