Baltimore: Eat More Better
I am not one for New Year's resolutions. I tend to be of the opinion that if you want to resolve to better yourself, why not just start in that very moment?
Not to mention, I loathe the clusterfuck that is the gym after New Year's.
One of the only successful New Year's resolutions I ever made (and frankly one of the ONLY resolutions I ever made), was to cut back on fast food -- particularly McDonald's, which was a vice of mine in high school. I limited myself to one Big Mac a month for the whole year and stuck to it pretty well.
Ugh, limiting food. What a sad resolution for this girl.
It's been a long time since that high school New Year's resolution. In fact, I'm not sure I've made one since. But this year I've been inspired to make a resolution to...well...eat.
Let me explain. A couple years ago, my friends Stephanie and Subway made a list of all the restaurants in their neighborhood on the Upper West Side and vowed never to go to the same one twice (loophole: if a friend suggested a restaurant they had been to before, they could still go back). This way, they got out of the rut of going to the same places over and over.
I am forever in that rut, mostly because I love my favorites. But I also love Subs and Steph's idea and haven't forgotten it.
Now that I have moved within Baltimore and will be here for the foreseeable future, I figure it's time to test out all the places I haven't been to, especially since the culinary scene here is blowing up.
Add to that the most recent episode of "The Sporkful," in which they discuss their own foodie resolutions, and I decided this would be my resolution this year. After all, their motto is to "Eat more, eat better, eat more better."
Plus, of course, I'll share with you reviews of all the spots I visit. This way, you dear readers, will hold me accountable to my New Year's resolution.
What can I say? I'm taking one for the team.
Happy New Year!
