All Over: Marathon Monday (On Tuesday)

In case you don't follow a bajillion runners on Instagram like I do, you might not know that yesterday was the Boston Marathon. I can't believe I've become this person, but I was weirdly excited for it, even though no one I know personally was running.

I entered the lottery for this year's New York City Marathon, but as expected, I did not get in. But! Pretty much as soon as the pain wore off from the Chicago Marathon, I was trying to figure out which race to do next.

Don't let the running arms fool you. I was probably "running" at a walking pace at this point.

So I will never be fast enough to qualify for Boston, and right now my running plans are on hold to deal with some health stuff. But the Boston Marathoners inspired me, and once I'm back in action, here are the marathons on my wish list.

PARIS MARATHON

Seriously guys, what could be better than running through the most beautiful city in the world? The Eiffel Tower! The Louvre! The Arc de Triomphe! The Champs Elysees!

NEW YORK CITY MARATHON

Well obviously since I entered the lottery, I'd like to do this one in my second home. Starting in Staten Island, the course winds its way through all five boroughs and ends in Central Park. Since I trolled all my friends and family to raise money for charity in Chicago, I decided not to do it this year for NYC, but don't be surprised if I hit you all up for charity money sometime in the next year or two in order to run this gem.

SPARKASSE 3-LÄNDER MARATHON

My college roommate Claire, who is currently living in Germany, alerted me to this awesome, badass marathon when I was trying to decide which one to run first. As much as I love the idea of running through New York's five boroughs, it is even cooler to think about running through three COUNTRIES. This course takes a scenic, flat (!) route through Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

LONDON MARATHON

This year's London Marathon takes place in four days, and I have to say, it's almost as appealing to me as the Paris Marathon. London is equally packed with sights, and despite having visited the city twice now, I can't imagine getting bored along the route.

BALTIMORE RUNNING FESTIVAL

Well obviously this one is a lot more convenient for me, and for once in my life, I can train on a race course before I actually race it. Yet...I haven't committed to this one. To be perfectly honest, the Baltimore hills TERRIFY me. That crab medal tho... I'm thinking about it!

So runner friends...any recommendations?
