Baltimore: Light City 2017, Round 1
It's official. The first weekend in April is 100 percent my favorite weekend in Baltimore.
Fells Point holds its annual Privateer Festival when people dress up as pirates for no apparent reason.
My favorite food festival, Emporiyum, now four years running takes place.
It's the last baseball-less weekend for the spring and summer.
And now for the second year in a row, the first weekend in April marks the first weekend of the week-long arts and innovation festival, Light City. I wrote about Light City last year and how much I loved it. It was a huge success for the city, and I was super excited when they announced it would be coming back this year.
It's even bigger this year with more art installations, musical acts, conferences, and more. My friends and I spent the entire evening Saturday winding our way from Fells Point and down around the Inner Harbor, and we didn't even manage to see all of the exhibits. I have read there's a life-size Light Bright somewhere, and as this was possibly my favorite toy as a child, I am determined to go back and find it...which means I'll be returning to Light City before it ends at the end of this week.
But for now, here's a look at some of my favorite pieces of Light City art from Saturday night.
