Best Of: 2018 Olympics Social Media

I don't know about you guys, but I freaking love the Olympics, and I always have. And now between on-demand streaming and social media, the Olympic experience is arguably its best ever.

Since I cut the cable cord almost a year ago, I've been streaming this year's Olympics with the NBC Sports app on my Fire TV. They have this "enhanced" view, where you can watch the primetime coverage with a whole bunch of facts and tidbits on a right sidebar and another box along the bottom.

I find this completely annoying and unnecessary, especially since I'll never understand curling no matter how many explanations worth of text you throw up there.

Rather, MY enhanced way of watching involves a phone in my hand, Twitter and Insta at the ready. Here's who to follow and where in order to live your best Olympic life.

Michelle Collins on Twitter

Jen first alerted me to the brilliance of comedian/writer/talk show host Michelle Collins a few Olympics ago when she was writing summaries. She's no longer writing the summaries and her main jam is making fun of "The Bachelor" on Twitter, but she's still tweeting about this winter's Olympics. Her jokes are beyond the typical chuckle I get out of a solid tweet and go well into the territory of cannot-stop-laughing-I-am-crying. I can't confirm this, but I am 90 percent sure she is responsible for this meme from the 2014 Games, which is an absolute favorite of mine.

The Podium Podcast

Not gonna lie to ya, some of these episodes are a little bit boring, but now that the Olympics are in full swing, this podcast is being updated daily, so if you're like me, and you're nearing the age of retirement for most athletes and you can't stay awake much past 10, you can find out everything you need to know in 30 minutes on your phone. And since this podcast is a tandem effort between Vox and NBC, it's good for a deep dive into some really interesting stories. If you check out only one episode, make it the one with Chef David Chang of Momofuku fame attempting to learn how to curl.

John Daly on Instagram

I dare you to find a funnier athlete in any Olympics than skeleton racer John Daly. I started following him during the Sochi Olympics and came across his impossibly funny YouTube channel with teammate and training partner Steven Langton. This article sums up his best recent moments. My personal favorite is watching him "trust fall" into an unsuspecting Langton literally every chance he gets.

17-year-old gold medalist snowboarder Chloe Kim is a fucking G, and I really enjoyed watching her. Her Twitter includes some pretty relatable gems like this one: "Wish I finished my breakfast sandwich but my stubborn self decided not to and now I'm getting hangry." I feel ya girl. Life advice from the phenom? If you ever get nervous, go eat a churro. I like where her head's at.

Ugggggh honestly could not love this figure skater with the sassy sense of humor anymore. He turned down a meeting with homophobe Mike Pence and spoke out openly and honestly against him when asked about his feelings about him being at the Olympics. YASSS. His performance was amazing, and the tweets are just as amazing. Plus, he DOES have fantastic brows.

And finally...

This Instagram account has apparently been removed, but I originally wanted to share with you @tinderpyeongchang for obvious reasons.
